It had already been trying to escape but had no shuttle to modify. Small theory: the AR spend a ton of time trying to engineer faster traveling methods, hence its "modification" to ART's engine. AR can't get anywhere without wormhole travel. Ore-CR colonists die out or fight amongst themselves to the death or whatever.
I think Pre-CR because it linked to the older, shitty tech? How else would it have controlled non-augmented people unless it had the augmented pre-CR colonists start building the implants? I am unclear if targetContact is Pre-CR colonist or Adamantine. They get contaminated by AR and start compulsively building the ribcage structure. They are lost or abandoned or maybe presumed self-sufficient enough to not need help. Pre-CR Colony lands, builds on top of the old Alien Remnant (AR). This is gonna be long because I have no one to talk to about MB yet. I'm going to write a timeline of events and correct me or elaborate please. I know it's vague relatively on purpose, but I haven't been able to find another post really explaining it and my brain is just 10% too dumb to understand on its own. I need some more clarity on the ending and what exactly happened to the Pre-CR colony, Adamantine, and Barish-Estranza with the alien remnant Just finished Network Effect and man, I cannot stop gushing about Murderbot to everyone I know.
